Required for ALL students.
All students attending class on campus must have on file at Student Health proof of 2 doses of MMR- ( Measles, Mumps and Rubella)
The first dose must be given after age 12 months
The second dose must be at least 30 days after the first.
Exceptions:
Required for ALL students living in univeristy approved housing.
All students living in university approved housing (including Fraternities and Sororities) must have on file at Student Health documentation of a meningitis immunization. It is also a recommended vaccine for all University students.
For adolescents who receive the first dose at age 11 through 15 years, a one-time booster dose must be administered. Adolescents who receive their first dose of Meningitis vaccine at or after age 16 years do not need a booster dose. CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends the booster vaccine at age 16 after initial vaccination at age 11-12 to prevent waning immunity in ages 16-21, the period of greatest vulnerability to meningococcal disease.
Missouri Senate Bill 754 requires all students of public institutions of higher education who reside in on-campus housing to have received the meningococcal vaccine unless a signed statement of medical or religious exemption is on file with the institution’s administration. A student shall be exempted from the immunization requirement of this section upon signed certification by a physician, indicating that the immunization would seriously endanger the student’s health or life or the student has documentation of the disease or laboratory evidence of immunity to the disease. A student shall be exempted from the immunization requirement of this section if he or she objects in writing to the institution’s administration that immunization violates his or her religious beliefs.
There are two Meningitis vaccines available, the Quadrivalent (Menactra, Menveo, Menquadfi, MCV4) and Meningitis B (Bexsero, Trumenba). The required vaccine is the quadrivalent vaccine. The Meningitis B vaccine is a recommended vaccine but is not required.

Yearly flu shots are recommended for ALL individuals age 6 months and older. We strongly recommend all S&T students obtain a flu shot for two reasons:
1. Getting the flu will likely cause you to miss a few days of school and could adversely affect your grades. Occasionally, it causes serious medical complications requiring hospitalization.
2. Vaccination prevents spread among the S&T community.
Flu shots are typically available in September and no appointment is needed. Cost is competitive with other clinics and can be billed to student accounts. Student Health offers discounts to students who register for a flu shot in advance.
Because of the recent resurgence of Pertussis (Whooping Cough), it is recommended that all adults over the age of 18 receive one Tetanus/Pertussis Booster. Otherwise, a Tetanus vaccine is recommended every 10 years, or sooner with some injuries.
HPV is a very common sexually transmitted virus. HPV causes cervical, penile, anal and oral cancers and genital warts. Gardasil is recommended for both males and females, between ages 12-26. Gardasil is a series of 3 vaccines, given over a 6 month period.
All students are expected to be in compliance with immunization policies for the health and safety of themselves and the campus community. (University of Missouri Collected Rules: 280.025, 280.010).
The waiver process is outlined in Missouri Senate Bill 754 Section 174.335.
All requests for exemption will be reviewed by the Medical Director or their representative.
Processing of exemptions can take up to 5 working days to complete.
Any student with an approved exemption will be required to:
Waivers will only be considered for medical or religious reasons. MMR and Meningitis waiver will have different documentation requirements; refer to the individual instruction sheets.
Medical waivers must be completed by the student’s personal physician. Student Health Services providers will not provide medical waivers for students.
Religious waiver requests are usually not approved if there is proof of prior immunizations.
Students requesting a permanent or temporary exemption to any immunization must submit the following:
